OCKs Beware
I'm currently in the line for FOB Perth. My friend is an OCK and so she and I paid the $145 for Early Entry. We have been informed that Optus has run a comp ("Yes Sessions") and given 400 free tickets to under 18 year olds with their network to have a Q&A and early entry - before those of us who have paid fuckloads for EE. 400 people in front of us. If your city had leftover tickets, this fuckery may happen to you. We've talked to the venue and their hands are tied. We've called Frontier and a rep said that he'd "look into it." There are possibly 20 OCKs absolute max in total who have paid double the price of normal tickets versus 400 who get it free. Nevermind that OCKs have to pay to even be a member. Some OCKs aren't here yet, but are going to be pissed.

ETA: Please copy/paste this everywhere; my phone doesn't have that function. :(

it's not because they had leftover tickets. the competition has been arranged months ahead, it's been up on the optus site since the dates were announced.

and no, if you haven't realised, EE is at 6:15 and the optus competition starts at 6:30 and ends at 7:15. DOORS OPEN AT 7:15.

We told them that, showed them the documentation, but it's not happening. They have said that Optus winners have priority over us and are not letting us in first.

As far as I know, the yes sessions event goes right up until 7:15, doors time. i think ock EE gets in to the gig hall before those kids get in - they cant be hosting the yes sessions event IN the main arena.

also, i could point out the insanity and unfairness of anyone - even OCKs - being able to BUY early entry when it was meant to be something that 20 or so lucky OCKs WON as part of their membership.. but we've done that to death.

rest easy, i am pretty sure you'll get in before the optus kids, theyll be off optusing while you get your barrier spot.

As I said in the comment above, they're not doing it that way. They're letting optus people in the venue/pit and doing the Q&A there (for some reason??), THEN letting OCKs in, then GA. Venue being lazy?Maybe. Pressure from Presenters? Definitely.

wow, they gave away 400 for free?
idk there was that many, but I know people who have been giving away their yes sessions coz they didn't want it,
which sux for OCKs I guess coz they paid so much for it..

i think it might be 400 for the whole tour, not each show.. but im really not sure.

Are there many people there for the Perth show already?

Me and my friend are going tomorrow for about 9-ish.

Probably <15? mostly the over eighteens- we now see why there are very little minors- they've mostly all won the EE.

I linked to this post in sunshine_corps. Thanks for letting us know, and please keep us posted!

It's unlikely that we'll get any news until tomorrow - probably when the tour production team is here. Thanks for the pimpage.

In line with keeping us posted on sunshine_corps would it be a bit much to ask for you and everyone else you might know going to the show to write us up entries on what the hell has been going on with these shows? This is a big clusterfuck and I'm going to be compiling something to be passing around on sites like and others like it, but as I'm not there first hand it's kind of hard to keep track of all the different ways you guys are getting jilted.

I'm sorry this is shit and it's happening to you guys. I'm so fucking sorry. :C

What I hope is happening is that they and we have just been given some false info, and we're just all overreacting and freaking out for no reason. I'm hoping it all sorts out in the end, but in the meantime it's kind of anxiety-inducing :/

Dude, that is fucked. I'm gonna be pissed if that happens at brisbane because I already don't have ee so I'll be waiting there at the front all day anyway, I don't want 400 more people in front of me. >:[ anyway, how was the show? :)

The show itself was great as expected, but there were actually hundreds of Optus people. EE people were taken in after Optus Q&A finished, and they cleared some of the barrier for us - at the very side (perhaps not worth my US$145). By the time it was over we'd managed to edge our way almost to the centre of the barrier (over 4 metres distance, quite impressive imho), but I digress. The main issue was that there were people <10-years-old at the front and in the mosh, and lots of >18s who were furious at the situation (having camped out and not even had the comp available to them - because adults apparently can't be FOB fans now, and being forced to watch 400 people jump the line in front of them) were about to be let in and were set on getting to the front, 7-yr-olds be damned. Most of the younger ones were lifted out by the time Hey Monday were over, thank Christ. Apparently they had Optus kids line up next to the camped-out people, and I've been told that there was a lot of tension and heckling between the two groups (mostly from 'my' camp-out side, I've been told, unfortunately) and a very poisonous atmosphere created. I was afraid for those kids. It all seemed to work out okay though, as security got most out easily.

so you paid all this money for EE tix when you could just sign up to optus prepaid and go to and you could have won free tix. They're also doing it for Pink. get onto it. its gonna be sick

Well one, I'm not an Optus customer. And two, only kids under 18 were eligable. Over 18 Optus customers didn't get informed/a chance to enter.
